Santoni: hand painted shoes winking at Renaissance

Hand-painted shoes. A manual technique inspired by Renaissance artists as Raffaello. Santoni, a great shoemaker based in Macerata, uses color in the manner of  painters.

As well, the great Italian manufacturer has studied the famous “velatura”, the so called “veiling”. A color layering that does not cover, it takes out beauty and nuance in a unique way. Raffaello did ii t with lime, Santoni has borrowed it and customized it.

So, each shoe is unique. Here, for instance, we have a double buckle shoe, hand colored and polished in the fades of brown.

But you can find light blue crocodiles, forest green and vermilion, sand/tobacco and slate grey. A world of craftsman able to express real art.
